Borrowing

Borrowing books is easy !

Just take your student ID and books to the Service Counter and show them to the staff there.

Reference books are available only in the library.

Returning

To return the books, just take them to the Service Counter of any libraries.

Please use the book drop when we are closed.

Your account will be suspended for the same amount of days as the length of time overdue.

The length of the suspension on your account is determined not by the number of items that are overdue, but by the item with the longest length of time overdue.

Library Catalog

You can search books, e-books and journals through the Library catalog.

Journals are arranged in the order of the title.

If you cannot find where the material is, please ask at the Service Counter.

    • The closed stacks have 400,000 books and journals in the main library.  
    • Ehime University students can use the books in the closed stacks.  
    • Please ask the service counter, if you would like to enter the closed stacks.  
    • You cannot bring a bag into the closed stacks. Please leave them in the locker.

Digital Data

E-Journals

Digitalized academic journals are available to access through the web. At Ehime University, you can access about 3,600 journals on PCs in the library or research laboratories.

Databases

You can search article on journals through databases such as Scopus, SciFinder, Ovid EBM Reviews on PCs in the library or research laboratories.

Remote Access Service

Some e-journals and databases are available from off-campus by GakuNin Japanese Federation.

Inter-Campus Delivery : ILL Borrowing Request (borrow the actual book)

If other campus libraries have books you want to read, they can deliver them to your campus library.
You can apply via the library catalog.

They will be ready for you on the next business day.

Book Request (Students Only)

If the library does not have the book you are looking for, you can either submit a purchase request. Depending on the budget situation, we may not be able to meet the request.

Photocopy Services

You can photocopy library materials within the bounds of copyright law (paid service: 1page per 10 yen).

The self-service copy machines are in each library.

Notice

  • You may copy only a part of the material (less than half).
  • You may copy the whole part of a journal article only when the next issue published or three months passed.
  • Permission to print a single copy for your own studies and research is accepted.
  • It is prohibited to duplicate or distribute the photocopy regardless of whether compensation is received.
  • Please fill out the "Photocopy Application Form" and put it in the box placed near copying machines.

Using PCs

Educational PC

In every library, there are educational PCs.
You can use various software: web browsers, Microsoft Office, image processing… etc.

To use them, the ID and password issued by Center for Information Technology are required, and you need your student ID to print out.

Supplement for Non-Degree Students and Auditors

If you want to print from a PC, please borrow a printer card at the Ehime University co-op shop.
Non-degree students and auditors cannot pay printing fees by Student ID.
The reason is that your student ID does not have the function of the ipa.
The ipa is a prepaid IC card that you can use to pay for printing fees and make purchases in Ehime University co-op shops.

Your Own PC

In the library, you can connect to the network with On-Campus Wi-Fi System.

Library PC for Searching Books (OPAC)

Library PCs which anyone can use are available in every library for searching books, part of databases and e-journals.

You cannot print out from OPAC PC.

Use of Group Study Room

The group study rooms can be booked online.

You can book up to a week in advance.

Reference Services

Ask a Librarian

Consultation services on materials searches and how to use the library are available.
The library will support your research or learning activities.

Workshops

The library provide workshops and seminars for using libraries and useful databases, which are helpful for writing academic essays and papers.

Interlibrary Copy/Loan Services

Interlibrary copy / loan services provide access to materials which are not available at our library through a network with other libraries.

You can ask for photocopies or book borrowings. You must pay copy and postal charges.

You can apply via the library catalog.

Visiting Other Libraries

The service counter issues a letter of introduction when you need one to visit other university libraries.
You might be asked to bring one especially when you are visiting private schools, so please ask at the service counter as soon as possible.

Library Manners

Please Help Maintain a Comfortable Environment

  • Please be quiet and turn off your cell phone when in the library so as not to bother other people.
  • Please do not eat or drink in the library. However, beverages are allowed in “Spill-Proof” containers with twist off or other secure lids. Please put it in your bag after drinking.
  • Please follow the "COMPUTER AND NETWORK USE GUIDELINES".
  • Please carry all valuables with you when you leave your seat to avoid the theft.
